The Miami-Dade County Fair takes place for three weeks and occurs during the spring. The Miami-Dade County Fair is not part of the county but is a privately operated Not-for-Profit Corporation governed by a volunteer board of directors. In 2005 almost 700 thousand people attended the Fair. The 80-acre Fair which is located at the Expo Center is one of the largest county fairs in the entire country, The Fair attracts nearly one million visitors each year and features lots of family entertainment, 100 rides including four roller coasters and plenty of kiddy rides, nearly 200 food booths, 50 games and over 50,000 student and adult exhibits and competitions. Over 50,000 local students enter projects and competitions held at The Fair each year and $500,000 are awarded in scholarships and premiums. The 55th annual fair will take place March 16 through April 2, 2006.
